You can easily sew this darling doll dress pattern which includes a smocking pattern featuring pretty irises peaking out from golden hexagons. The dress has five tucks on the bodice and a tuck on the skirt which forms the hem for the dress. The dress is smocked in the front only and the back bodice comes down to the last row of smocking. The large, over-sized gathered sleeves are edged with lace and three small buttons add the finishing touch to the bodice. The smocking pattern is easy to work because the directions are clear and the illustrations of smocking are very detailed. If you have never smocked before we invite you to purchase the instructional smocking video "Smocking Tomorrow's Treasures" to learn the basic stitches. (Please note that you will need to pleat the fabric before smocking it. You may use iron-dots to gather the fabric or run it through a pleater such as the Little Amanda.) Next picture Andrea dress made with blue broadcloth The model wearing the dress made from our smocking pattern is a "Dress Me Doll"© from The Martha Pullen Company. This smocked dress pattern fits 18" dolls (those with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body) such as The American Girls Collection® by the Pleasant Company, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and many others. The dress pattern is actually designed to fit The American Girls Collection®, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and Dress Me Dolls© from The Martha Pullen Company (these dolls are the same size). The pattern will also fit the following dolls quite well: Faithful Friends Collection®, Tolly Girl®, Liberty Landing®, Girls on the Go®, Savannah of Storybook Heirlooms™, Laura Ashley®, Collector's Lane®, Creative Doll Company®, Springfield Collection®, Sophia's Heritage Collection®, Autumn Harvest™, Our Generation™ and miscellaneous composition and porcelain dolls. Since some dolls, such as Liberty Landing®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™, are a little thinner, you may want to check the size of your doll and adjust the smocked dress pattern slightly for a better fit. Infinite Freedom and Sally Robertson are not associated with any of the above named dolls or companies in any way.
