Help From An Angel
Part 1

The angel began appearing in my mind's eye while I was meditating and praying each day and she would always be holding a doll dress. She did not speak. But I thought she might be telling me to start a pattern business.

After some time of gazing daily at the silent angel, I decided it was definitely a sign for becoming a doll dress designer. I began to put together the pattern for the Elizabeth Nightgown.

The pattern finally was finished and this website started with just that one pattern.

Then my husband and I entered a "time of troubles." Because of an accident, we lost everything financially. We had to sell our mountain home, close our business and move to Denver where the jobs were. I worked three jobs and had no time for sewing or this website. Yet every time I meditated and prayed, the angel was standing there holding a doll dress. I knew she was holding some sort of dream for me during the time I couldn't.

Finally, now my time is more free and I am able to spend a significant amount of time making doll dress patterns. I have always thought that the angel was telling me to do this business, but I think I now understand her meaning and it is much different than I thought.

It seems to me that certain garments capture and reflect an energy that is shared with the angelic world. While angels are not material, they do seem to present themselves with clothing that is light and airy and beautiful. That clothing has a certain energy-feel to it. It seems to me that many of the components of heirloom sewing capture that energy-feel. In particular, the thin, white or lightly colored batiste, the smocking, the seed beads, the embroidery and the delicate laces.

Actually, I can talk to the angel a little now and that is what she told me. At first it surprised me. But the more I thought about how many of the quilts and quilting fabrics reflect nature or earth energy, the more it began to make sense. I think a person can "tune into" nature just by working with the right materials and colors in a quilt (the "Pine Needles" designs will put me right there). I am beginning to think a person can "tune into" the angelic realm by working with the right designs and fabrics.

I believe the angel will help me move more and more in this direction with my pattern designing.
