Layette Pattern fits Reborn Baby Doll and Bitty Baby®
Often the first wardrobe for a reborn baby doll is a classic layette. The simply-constructed pieces are usually sewn from flannel. This layette features a front opening top (called a diaper shirt) paired with elastic-leg panties (called a diaper cover). The one-piece bonnet has a drawstring at the back of the head to give it a rounded shape. It can be made without the lace at the face opening if you are sewing for a boy baby doll. A bib to match the layette is trimmed with the same flannel bias binding. The booties are also one piece with a seam on the bottom of the foot. You can decorate the top of the booties in many different ways, including ribbon bows or flowers, or novelty button shapes. Try making an animal face with button eyes and nose, and felt "ears" stitched on the cuff! |
