The Story

Reyna Li is twelve years old and lives in Old China's Jewish community of Kaifeng, in the year 1175. Reyna is very intuitive and has the ability to read people's hearts through their body language. When Reyna's father Yehuda, a successful trader, becomes unwittingly involved in a bad business deal, Reyna's intuition leads her and her new friend Jin into a daring rescue attempt in the desert, hundreds of miles away from home. Through this adventure, Reyna rediscovers herself, the blessings of a mother she never knew, and the true meaning of being Jewish.
