This selection from our wooden doll furniture is an essential piece for both doll collectors and children who play with dolls. Who ever has enough storage space for clothes and accessories? This trunk will hold all the odd items, such as blankets or shoes, that cannot be hung up on hangers. This piece will create a wonderful bedroom suit when paired with the Southwestern bed and Southwestern nightstand. Angled cuts in the bed and table are created with a scroll saw and give this wooden doll furniture a Southwestern charm. Using wood with a small grain pattern helps to give the furniture a realistic look. The finish should be natural or a very light wooden stain. For an alternative way to decorate wooden doll furniture after it is made, see the "Home Décor for 18-Inch Dolls" pattern book. The first choice, the Princess Bedroom is truly fit for a princess! The wooden doll furniture is painted pink and given a sparkle varnish. Curled ribbons and fluffy bows accent the furniture. The bed has a foam mattress complete with sheets and a bed skirt. The walls of the backdrop feature a popular ballet theme. The pieced quilt has a scalloped side edge with small fabric bows on top of each scallop. The pillow sham has machine embroidered ballet shoes as the center motif, but a purchased applique can be used instead. The small rug is an actual fabric braided rug. There is even a pattern for a cozy flannel nightgown for the doll. The second choice, the Funky Bedroom Setting features furniture that is painted bright blue or jade green with sponging of lighter colors to soften the finish. Beads are strung on coiled wire and attached to the bedposts and the plaques to give the doll furniture a hip, contemporary look. The practical and simple bedspread is made from orange print fabric with yellow cording along the sides of the bed. The yellow sheets and pillowcase have decorative fabric strips along the edges. Three throw pillows are shaped to match the decorations on the bed - a star, square and triangle. No slumber party would be complete without a lined, zippered sleeping bag. And a fur foot pillow is a must! There is a pattern for a terry cloth robe with a machine-embroidered pocket and big baggy flannel sleep pants and a short-sleeve t-shirt. The third choice for decorating the wooden doll furniture is the Ladybug bedroom suit. The background is a green and white checked fabric that is mimicked on the paint design of the furniture. The mattress has a checked bed skirt that covers three sides. The furniture is painted with dots and squares with ladybug decals marching across. Red accents are used in this highly decorated room. The quilt is three pieced sections connected with red fabric strips. The large ladybug in the center section is a paper pieced square. There is also a pattern for a fashionable peasant top and Capri pants that are accented with a bow and ladybug buttons. Next pattern: Hope Chest The wooden doll furniture pattern is sized for 18-inch vinyl dolls (those with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body) such as The American Girls Collection® by the Pleasant Company, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and many others. It will work with the following dolls quite well: Dress Me Doll© by The Martha Pullen Company, Faithful Friends Collection®, Liberty Landing®, Girls on the Go®, Savannah of Storybook Heirlooms™, Laura Ashley®, Collector's Lane®, Creative Doll Company®, Springfield Collection®, Sophia's Heritage Collection®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™ and miscellaneous composition and porcelain dolls. These easy-to-follow woodworking doll furniture projects are created for the woodworker who has a home workshop and access to basic tools. Each project is presented in a detailed, step-by-step process from start to finish. Simpler projects for the beginner are included, as well as more challenging projects for the advanced woodworker. All these woodworking projects feature carefully drawn patterns and a full-color photo of the finished product. The author painstakingly leads you through each step of the construction process, including materials lists, technical notes, assembly tips and finishing techniques. This book includes comprehensive instructions on how to get started, including choosing the right tools, wood and finishes. Any child, or seasoned doll collector, would be proud to receive furniture that was constructed by you. However, if you do not have woodworking skills and do not have access to the right tools, it would not be possible to construct these furniture pieces. Infinite Freedom and Sally Robertson are not associated with any of the above named dolls or companies in any way.
