Out of Print, No Longer Available Pattern Book "The Dolls' Clothes Collection" by Christina Harris - $24.99 Collector Doll Clothes - Traveling Coat and Spatterdashes
Whether traveling by train or a short journey by omnibus, children were always dressed for the occasion. Animal fur was widely used at this time, for children as well as adults, and rabbit fur was particularly fashionable for children's wear. Long pile mohair gives an authentic look for the style of the day. Spatterdashes kept little legs warm and clean. They reached from above the knee and extended over the top of the shoe. The pattern includes directions to make the coat, spatterdashes, Glengary bonnet and Mary Jane shoes. Christina Harris gives ideas on how to adapt the pattern to create the a short coat. The pattern for the Victorian Doll Dress is sized for a doll that is 19 inches tall. Directions are given to modify it for those that are from 14 to 25 inches tall. Next pattern: Motoring Wear for a Gibson Girl The model is a reproduction of a German Barnaby doll made by The Dolls House. The face has been painted in modern style.
