Out of Print, No Longer Available Pattern Book "The Dolls' Clothes Collection" by Christina Harris - $24.99 Pattern for Clothing: Antique Doll: Egyptian Chemise
The discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922 brought a wave of romanticism known as Tutmania to the fashion conscious public. The stylized lines of Egyptian motifs were incorporated into the ever-popular art nouveau designs of the time. The loose shape of the chemise freed women from their corsets as the suffragette movement freed women in their thinking. Hair was bobbed, skirts were shortened and the Charleston and foxtrot became all the rage. The clothing pattern includes directions to make the chemise, sash, choker, French knickers, long stockings and T-strap slippers.
You can adapt the pattern to make a different version of the chemise. The clothing pattern for an antique doll is sized for a doll that is 24 inches tall. Directions are given to modify it for those that are from 14 to 25 inches tall. Next pattern: Baby Take a Bow The model is a Elise doll originally sculpted by Jane Zidjunas.
