Each
of the basic doll costume patterns in this book are designed to
fit dolls that are 14-16 inches, 17-19 inches, 20-22 inches, or
23-25 inches high. Pattern pieces for each costume are given for
one size and one size only. If your doll is not that size you
will need to modify the pattern to fit. Christina Harris gives
detailed directions on how to measure your doll and make the basic
adjustments to the pattern.
None of the
patterns are designed for the American Girl Doll. The dolls in
the book have the figure of a young lady with a slim waist. The
American Girl Doll is shaped more like a 7 year-old with a sturdier
waist.
The garments
are made mainly on a sewing machine with hems and finishing work
done by hand. Christina lists the tools and equipment you will
need as well as giving detailed directions for the basic techniques
and stitches. (If you have never made a doll shoe to match a doll
costume before you will be surprised how easily you can make an
authentic leather shoe with a sole using this book!) |
The pattern pieces
are printed on the pages of the book so you need to trace over them
with tracing paper or copy them on a copier.
