Beaded Doll Dress Pattern

	White batiste garment with rows of beaded smocking using multi-colored green floss and green seed beads. Sleeves are embellished with organdy and satin ribbon.		Pink batiste outfit with white floss and white iridescent seed beads.

This beaded doll dress is really fun to smock. There are rows and rows of simple smocking embellished with beads. There are so many color combinations that are possible between the floss and the beads. While I was designing this doll dress it seemed like it came out beautifully no matter what colors of beads and floss. Some colors made very subtle patterns and other bold patterns.

The dress is smocked in the front and is designed so that the back bodice comes down to the last row of smocking. You can use smocking dots or a pleater to pleat your fabric for smocking. If you use smocking dots, or a pleater that is a little bit different in the spacing between the rows than what mine gives, you may find that the last row of the smocking is not hitting the back bodice directly. This is actually not a problem since traditionally little girls dresses did not have the last row of the smocking meeting the back bodice. However, you can adjust the pattern slightly if you desire.

This beaded doll dress pattern fits 18" dolls (those with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body) such as The American Girls Collection® by the Pleasant Company, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and many others. The pattern was actually sized on The American Girls Collection®, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and Dress Me Dolls© from The Martha Pullen Company (these dolls are the same size). The pattern will also fit the following dolls quite well: Faithful Friends Collection®, Tolly Girl®, Liberty Landing®, Girls on the Go®, Savannah of Storybook Heirlooms™, Laura Ashley®, Collector's Lane®, Creative Doll Company®, Springfield Collection®, Sophia's Heritage Collection®, Autumn Harvest™, Our Generation™ and miscellaneous composition and porcelain dolls. Since some dolls, such as Liberty Landing®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation, are a little thinner, you may want to check the size of your doll and adjust the dress pattern slightly for a better fit.
