Helen Dress by Sally Robertson
White Batiste, Green Beads, Green Floss

The smocked, beaded Helen Dress is so much fun to sew!! The possibilities for color combinations for fabrics, floss and beads seems to be endless. In this version, the smocking is carried out with different shades of green floss in a rather random pattern. The smocking has brilliant green seed beads all through it.

The dress is smocked in the front only and the back bodice comes down to the last row of smocking. The gathered sleeves are embellished with ribbon striped with organdy and satin. The dress fabric is cut out from behind the ribbon so that you are able to see through the organdy. The back is fastened with Velcro.

Fabrics required:

• Dress 3/4 yd. of batiste or 5/8 yd. of broadcloth.

This smocked, beaded dress pattern fits 18" dolls (those with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body) such as The American Girls Collection® by the Pleasant Company, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and many others. The pattern was actually sized on The American Girls Collection®, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and Dress Me Dolls© from The Martha Pullen Company (these dolls are the same size). The pattern will also fit the following dolls quite well: Faithful Friends Collection®, Tolly Girl®, Liberty Landing®, Girls on the Go®, Savannah of Storybook Heirlooms™, Laura Ashley®, Collector's Lane®, Creative Doll Company®, Springfield Collection®, Sophia's Heritage Collection®, Autumn Harvest™, Our Generation™ and miscellaneous composition and porcelain dolls. Since some dolls, such as Liberty Landing®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation, are a little thinner, you may want to check the size of your doll and adjust the pattern slightly for a better fit.
