German clothes for 18-inch dolls: Many familiar folk tales are set in Germany's Black Forest. This area has a wide variety of folk costume styles to celebrate carnivals, festivals, and other folklore occasions. One of the costumes is the lederhosen, designed by Marlene Ford. It is a recognizable style consisting of bright or dark colored knee breeches with broad straps and a cross-band to hold up the trousers. Embroidery often decorates the front cross-band, straps, and flaps. Common embroidery motifs are the oak leaf, blue gentian, and the edelweiss - a many-pointed white flower grown in Germany. The model is wearing her lederhosen over a lace-trimmed check blouse with full sleeves. Knee-high stocking and hiking boots are a must with these short breeches.
