Korean clothing for 18-inch dolls: The hanbok is a traditional piece of clothing for Korea, originating over 2,000 years ago. It has changed only slightly over the years and is still worn today for holidays and special occasions. The wide skirt is called a chima. It has a high waist with straps to hold it up. Over it is worn a juhgori, a loose-fitting jacket with large sleeves that taper at the wrists. It crosses over in the front and has an ornamental single bow. Yellow is a common choice for the juhgori, with a red or indigo chima. Gold-leaf imprints were used to decorate the hanbok with dragon, flowers or phoenix motifs for the royal family. Today, imitation gold imprints are common. Rubber stamps with metallic gold ink work well for dolls. Pattern for Korean clothing includes the chima (skirt) and juhgori (jacket). The Korean clothing fits 18-inch dolls (those with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body) such as The American Girls Collection® by the Pleasant Company, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and many others. The Korean clothing is actually designed to fit The American Girls Collection® and Götz Dolls® (non-designer) loosely to allow for individual differences in the stuffing of the dolls. The Korean clothing will also fit the following dolls: Dress Me Doll© from The Martha Pullen Company, Faithful Friends Collection®, Liberty Landing®, Girls on the Go®, Savannah of Storybook Heirlooms™, Laura Ashley®, Collector's Lane®, Creative Doll Company®, Springfield Collection®, Sophia's Heritage Collection®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™ and miscellaneous composition and porcelain dolls. Since some dolls, such as Liberty Landing®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™, are a little thinner, you may want to check the size of your doll and adjust the pattern slightly for a better fit.
Infinite Freedom and Sally Robertson are not associated with any of the above named dolls or companies in any way.
