Norwegian clothing for 18-inch dolls: Norway is a country of high mountains and deep fjords. This has created many different regional costumes, or bunad. Perhaps the most famous region of Norway, because of its counted thread embroidery, is Hardanger. This ceremonial Norwegian clothing is from Hardanger. It starts with a crisp white blouse fastened with a silver brooch (Norwegian brooches have small silver concave disks dangling to reflect the firelight on long dark nights). Over the blouse is a black wool skirt, a red bodice with ribbon trim, and a beaded or embroidered plastron. The embroidered white linen apron with a wide ribbon at the waist is worn over the skirt. A small cap and black shoes with a buckle complete the costume. The Norwegian clothing outfit includes blouse, skirt, vest, apron and hat.

The Norwegian clothing is actually designed to fit The American Girls Collection® and Götz Dolls® (non-designer) loosely to allow for individual differences in the stuffing of the dolls. Since some dolls, such as Liberty Landing®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™, are a little thinner, you may want to check the size of your doll and adjust the pattern slightly for a better fit.
