Sew Swedish Clothing
for 18-Inch Dolls

Swedish clothing for 18-inch dolls: Sweden has a variety of folk costumes, just as many other countries do. At the end of the 19th Century it was noted that some areas of Sweden did not have their own folk costume. In 1906 a special costume was designed so that no one would be without. This costume uses the blue and yellow colors in the Swedish flag. The skirt and bodice are royal blue with embroidered white daisies on the bodice. The apron also has a band of embroidered daisies along the hemline. It is all worn over a white blouse with a lace-trimmed peter pan color. The pattern for Swedish clothing includes a blouse, dress and apron.

Swedish clothing fits 18-inch dolls (those with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body) such as The American Girls Collection® by the Pleasant Company, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and many others. The Swedish clothing is actually designed to fit The American Girls Collection® and Götz Dolls® (non-designer) loosely to allow for individual differences in the stuffing of the dolls. The Swedish clothing will also fit the following dolls: Dress Me Doll© from The Martha Pullen Company, Faithful Friends Collection®, Liberty Landing®, Girls on the Go®, Savannah of Storybook Heirlooms™, Laura Ashley®, Collector's Lane®, Creative Doll Company®, Springfield Collection®, Sophia's Heritage Collection®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™ and miscellaneous composition and porcelain dolls. Since some dolls, such as Liberty Landing®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™, are a little thinner, you may want to check the size of your doll and adjust the pattern slightly for a better fit.
