Turkish clothing for 18-inch dolls: The traditional Turkish clothing from the Middle East has changed very little over the centuries. This area of the world specialized in elaborate silk and metal thread embroideries. Designs such as the Tree of Life and the double-headed eagle were copied in Western Europe as a result of access to international trade routes including the famous Silk Road. The model wears full baggy pants called salvar that are worn with a blouse with metallic ribbon trims. Over this a calf-length coat trimmed with similar metallic ribbons is worn. The velveteen hat, or fez, is edged with a row of gold coins. Her shoes are slippers with turned-up toes. The sewing pattern includes the blouse, pants, belt, jacket, hat and slippers. Turkish clothing fits 18-inch dolls (those with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body) such as The American Girls Collection® by the Pleasant Company, Götz Dolls® (non-designer) and many others. The Turkish clothing is actually designed to fit The American Girls Collection® and Götz Dolls® (non-designer) loosely to allow for individual differences in the stuffing of the dolls. It will also fit the following dolls: Dress Me Doll© from The Martha Pullen Company, Faithful Friends Collection®, Liberty Landing®, Girls on the Go®, Savannah of Storybook Heirlooms™, Laura Ashley®, Collector's Lane®, Creative Doll Company®, Springfield Collection®, Sophia's Heritage Collection®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™ and miscellaneous composition and porcelain dolls. Since some dolls, such as Liberty Landing®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation™, are a little thinner, you may want to check the size of your doll and adjust the pattern slightly for a better fit.
Infinite Freedom and Sally Robertson are not associated with any of the above named dolls or companies in any way.
