Doll dress pattern features smocking: Stella Dress

View 1 of the Stella Dress. This dress features smocked apples just under the bodice. The dress is smocked in the front only and the back bodice comes down to the last row of smocking.

This elegant dress is actually simple to sew. The technique for putting the elastic in the sleeves is the easiest one I know. The large, oversized sleeves have Rick Rack partly showing on the edge of the hem. The dress is set off with a square neckline and Rick Rack around the bottom edge of the hem. The back is fastened with Velcro.

Smocking looks like it would be so hard and yet it is so easy to do! Check out Terri Wood's instructional video on smocking if you are a beginner or need some help brushing up.

Since some dolls, such as Liberty Landing®, Autumn Harvest™ and Our Generation, are a little thinner, you may want to check the size of your doll and adjust the smocked dress pattern slightly for a better fit.
