Pattern Book "The Dolls' Clothes Storybook Collection" by Christina Harris - $24.99 This book is now out of print and no longer available Doll Prince Costume Pattern
The Prince costume includes instructions to make the chemise, doublet, breeches, cape, plumed beret, poulaine shoes and Prince's hose. The chemise is made from four identical pieces of fabric that make up the front, back and sleeves. Elastic at the wrists and a drawstring at the neck pull it into shape. Our Prince is a paragon of chivalry in his fully lined doublet of fine brocade that fastens down the back with four snap fasteners. Gold buttons decorate the front and epaulets adorn the shoulders. The breeches have waist and leg bands and lengths of ribbons stitched over the bloused shape to give it the slashed effect that was popular in the 16th Century. The cape is fully lined with a contrasting color and is edged in gold trim. It has a wide collar and ties at the neck. The Prince's beret is fully lined and is topped with a feather. It is set at a jaunty angle on the side of his head with the feather swept back. The poulaine shoes have turned down cuffs and long turned up pointed toes which are stuffed to keep their shape. The Prince costume would not be complete without the proper undergarments. The pantalets and hose finish off the costume. The prince costume is sized for a doll that is 23-25 inches tall. Directions are given to modify it for a doll that is from 14 to 22 inches tall. Back to Table of Contents for "The Doll's Clothes Storybook Collection" The model is a modern Elise doll from the author's collection. |
